Talkala and Rebtel questions
Is Talkala a Rebtel alternative?
Yes, for outbound calls to supported mobiles and landlines. Talkala provides a browser dialer with prepaid credit. Rebtel also offers calling credit, alongside plans and supported phone-line options. Choose based on the numbers you call and the connection method you prefer.
Can I use Rebtel without a monthly subscription?
Yes. Rebtel offers prepaid Rebtel Credits as well as optional subscriptions. Talkala also uses prepaid credit for its core calling service, so a monthly calling plan is not required with either option.
Can I call with Rebtel without installing its app?
Yes, where its local-number or access-number service is available. You dial a Rebtel number from a supported phone connection, and Rebtel connects the international call. Your carrier’s local-call allowance or charges can apply.
Can Rebtel work without internet?
Rebtel supports phone-line and local-number routes in selected countries, so the call can use a regular phone connection instead of internet. Talkala’s browser calls require internet. The recipient of a regular phone-number call does not need internet with either service.
Can I use Rebtel from a computer or browser?
Rebtel’s official help pages currently give inconsistent answers. One says computer calling is unsupported, while another mentions website calling and Call Links. Check current availability with Rebtel before relying on that setup. Talkala provides a dedicated dialer in supported web browsers.
Official sources: All calling questions · Common questions
Will Rebtel calls use my mobile-plan minutes?
They can when you use a phone-line or local-number connection. That part of the call is handled by your carrier and can use local minutes or incur local-call charges. Rebtel calls over Wi-Fi or mobile data use a different connection method.
Is Talkala cheaper than Rebtel?
It depends on the destination, number type, calling volume and any applicable Rebtel plan. Compare the Talkala rate for your full number with Rebtel’s current rate or plan coverage. For phone-line routes, include any local carrier charges in the comparison.
Do Rebtel subscriptions renew automatically?
Rebtel’s subscription documentation describes automatic renewal, with the billing period depending on the offer. Check the terms of your active subscription. Automatic credit top-ups are a separate account setting.
Does the person I call need Talkala or Rebtel?
No. When you call a supported regular mobile or landline, the recipient answers through their normal phone service. They do not need a Talkala or Rebtel account or app.
Can I keep using both services?
Yes. Trying Talkala does not change your Rebtel account, balance or subscription. You can use each service for the destinations and connection methods that suit you.
