International format
+971 + area or mobile prefix + seven-digit subscriber number
Replace the domestic opening 0 with +971: 04 becomes +971 4, 02 becomes +971 2, and 050 becomes +971 50. Remove only that opening zero. If the number already starts with +971, do not add the code again.
Each X stands for a digit. These illustrate the format and are not numbers to call.
+971 is the UAE country code. +1 971 starts with the United States country code +1, followed by the Oregon area code 971. Check the full prefix, not just the digits 971.
Dubai uses 4 and Abu Dhabi uses 2 after +971, followed by the seven-digit subscriber number. That gives eight digits after the country code.
A domestic 050 mobile number becomes +971 50 followed by the seven-digit subscriber number, giving nine digits after +971. Other UAE mobile prefixes exist; 050 is one example.
These instructions cover ordinary mobile and landline numbers. Short codes, emergency numbers and special services use separate numbering rules.
+971 identifies the number's calling plan. It does not prove who is calling or where they are. Caller ID can be falsified, so the code alone cannot tell you whether a call is safe or fraudulent.
If you do not recognize the caller, check any claimed organization through its official website or a contact you already trust. Use the number published there to verify the request. Do not share passwords, verification codes or payment details with an unverified caller, or return a call just because the displayed number looks familiar.

+971 is the country calling code for the United Arab Emirates. Dubai landlines use +971 4; Abu Dhabi landlines use +971 2. A UAE mobile number is not a city landline number.
For an ordinary UAE mobile or landline number in full domestic format, leave out the first 0 when adding +971. Keep every remaining digit: 050 XXX XXXX becomes +971 50 XXX XXXX. Do not remove zeros inside the number.
No. +971 identifies the UAE calling plan. +1 971 is a United States number with area code 971 in Oregon. The +1 changes the destination.
Use + notation in Talkala. On a carrier phone, the international access prefix depends on where you call from and your carrier; it is not always 00. That access prefix replaces the plus sign, not the 971 country-code digits.
Open the Talkala phone, enter the number and create an account when you're ready to call. You can prepare your call before signing up, and the person answering doesn't need Talkala.
Talkala currently lists calls to the UAE from $0.52/min for landlines and $0.48/min for mobiles. These are starting rates in Talkala's default public price list. A number's carrier or prefix can change the final rate, which is confirmed before calling. Prices use the default United States caller ID, not your physical location.
Eligible accounts with no available credit and no completed paid top-up may receive one free call of up to 60 seconds. The final rate for that call must be $0.99/min or less. Account and destination eligibility are checked before calling. See all free-minute conditions.
